MakeChange ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information you provide directly:
- Name and email address (via Sign in with Apple or email)
- Financial data you enter: income, expenses, bills, subscriptions, goals, and calendar events
- Onboarding preferences (spending friction, savings priorities, financial goals)
Information collected automatically:
- App usage events and crash reports (used only for diagnosing bugs)
- Device type and OS version for compatibility purposes
We do not collect bank credentials, payment card numbers, or government-issued ID.
- To provide and personalize the MakeChange experience
- To generate AI-powered financial insights via the assistant
- To send bill reminders and streak notifications (if enabled)
- To maintain your account and subscription status
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Ever.
MakeChange uses the following services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Apple Sign In — authentication. Apple may share an anonymized user identifier and, optionally, name and email. Apple Privacy Policy →
- Supabase — secure cloud database for account data and financial entries. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Supabase Privacy Policy →
- Google Gemini — powers the AI assistant. Relevant financial context is sent to Google's Gemini API when you use this feature. Google does not use API data to train models by default. Google Privacy Policy →
Your data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure using TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest. Sensitive preferences are also cached locally on your device using encrypted storage.
No system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong Apple ID password and keep your device software updated.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (Settings → Delete Account), all personal data and financial entries are permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — update inaccurate information via the Profile screen
- Deletion — delete your account and all data at any time from Settings → Delete Account
- Portability — request an export of your data by contacting us

MakeChange is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, via in-app notification.
